I know that this section will eventually become a popular section here in Georgia. That are some great Kayak destinations here in Georgia and the neighboring states! It is obviously popular judging be the sheer numbers that see on top of cars, jeeps and other vehicles. I am thinking about buying a couple of the larger ones (for fishing) myself so I am interested in learning all that I can from you guys! Get on here and tell us all about it! wink

Hay Bob I use my canoe on Carters and have caught a few and when you hook up with one they pull you around like a trolling motor.

I know where there is a launch ramp on creek that feeds into the river on Carters. I think it call Ridgeway. It close to a waterfall. There are a several waterfalls on Carters. Get a canoe or kayak and me will go sometime.

Sounds like that would be fun in January throwing the FnF! Nothing better than 28 degrees, 20 MPH wind and a kayak casting a 10' rod...

If you use a 10' rod you may as well put a sail on it.

I've wanted a fishing Kayak for awhile. Just haven't pulled the trigger.

If you do it David, let me know so I can be there for the photo op. I'm sure those cruisers on Toona will treat you well. grin

I would not be able to work a spook sitting down.

I would end up looking like a drowned rat because I would have to stand up and we know that wouldn't be a good idea ina Kayak. So I can say with absolute certainty that old Bob will not be chunking a Spook in a Kayak. I would like fish in one someday though.

I use to have a kayak when I lived in California and fished out of it a lot. Granted it was drift fishing with live bait, in the ocean but it was definitely a lot of fun. smile

Also a lot of work when the wind came up in the afternoon. running

I'll try to get some pics up of the halibut that I caught out there.

You old fart, you did it again!

Fishing from a kayak looks peacefull and fun. But, for those of you on Lanier or Allatoona (or really any big lake) around first light. Please WEAR reflective clothing or paint your YAK some bright color...or have a pole light or do something to make yourself more visable to boaters.

I still get chills about a time on Lanier when I got to within 20 yards or so of a long boat. Was just prior to daylight. Brown boat, dark cloths and close to the water. Scared the ______ out of me and the guy in the long boat. This happened on the mainlake just past the mouth of six mile creek. We can all share the water if we just use a little common sense.

cheers
