The Pink Pig near lake Wedowee is very good. And that place in Ellijay with all the markers on the hill behind the bldg, can't remember the - Col-Poe's or something like that-BBDC and i ate there once, Moby has his big __ on that hill, that place may be the best ever, very close to as good as BubbaQue on Hwy 92 in Woodstock.

If y’all ever make y’all’s way over to Lake Fork, be sure to hit the Rancho Buffet in Mineola for Sunday Dinner. The selection of BBQ, and vegetables is GREATNESS. I’m torn between the beef ribs —EXCELLENT!— and the pork ribs. The pork ribs are both —EXCELLENT!— and rarer. I think the buffet runs about $12.

They have the absolute best selection of fresh vegetables anywhere in East Texas. I’ VERY partial to their whole boiled okrie with onions. YUM! YUM! YUM! Their boild squash with onions is identical to my Mom’s, and I’m known there as Popeye because I always get a big plate full of cooked spinach.

For dessert, I favor getting tea cakes and coconut pudding. They make for a pretty good facsimile of my Mom’s coconut cream pie.

Being from North Central Texas I have to admit Texas BBQ is the best. When you can go out to almost any farm and get all them Mesquite you need and cook with it you can not get no better. It is a whole lot better than getting store bought charcoal with Mesquite

JP, ya just ain't right, Bubba!! I can visualize a nice cool day in October, standing there by the smoker turning those luscious morsels over, closing the lid and easing down to the dock (assuming the water is back up to the dock by then), crawling in the boat, dropping the trolling motor and slinging a spinnerbait or Super Fluke around the edges of the alligator grass for a while. Coming back in every now and then to check on the meat!

That's a nice visualization Bob, but when I'm smokin', there's no leaving to go fishing. There is however, a beer fridge in the shop and outdoor speakers to jam some good country music. You do know that meat that is smoked to country music has better flavor.

I would still stay within earshot of ol Hank! And definitely within the aroma range of that meat cooking. (throw some pork chops on there too to really get that aroma rolling! party2

ok.......so ya'll talking aobut B B Q. well...........if i DO say so myself, as far as a RESTERAUNT place to eat teh BEST PORK B B Q. oyu have to go to BLOUNT SPRINGS, AL. and eat at the TOP HAT B B Q. they smoke the best PORK SHOULDER anywhere. only place better is at the top of the mountain.......MY HOUSE. hehehe.

i have eaten bbq in texas (lived there one summer back in 82), eaten in EVERY state in the southern UNITED STATES 9 lived in every state for at least 3 months growing up) and i still think TOP HAT BBQ is the best. GOLDEN RULE is very good. DREAMLAND? ppppuuuuulllllleeeeeeeeaaaaassssseeeeee, ribs are tough and sauce is watered down hot sauce. no flavor at all in my opion. they use the cheapest spare ribs they can buy and it usually comes from overseas now. not home grown anymore. it was ok when i was a kid, but not now. JIM N NICKS is good. sauce is hearty enough too. if you are ever near GARDENDALE, AL.try the BLUE MOON BBQ. very good also. i have eaten at most every bbq joint there is i think. these are the ones that stand out the most to me.

but there is ANOTEHR bbq joint that USED to be open and is not anymore, it is in BIRMINGHAM,AL. it was called OLLIE'S BBQ. it was OFF DA HOOK!!! owner died in the late 70's and so did the place. oyu can still see where it was as oyu go south on I-65 though. but for the best PULLED PORK SHOULDER. NO ONE can touch TOP HAT folks, i promise oyu that. well except me of course, hahaha!! i smoke my little shoulders with hickory or apple or pcan or a combo of all 3. depends on what flavor the folks want. and my sauce? TOP SECRET!! DON'T ASK AND OYU WON'T HAVE TO DIE. bwaahahahahahahaha!!!

i work to live, not live to work.

For all the Texas boys missing Texas beef BBQ, go to Fox Brothers in Atlanta. Those two guys are from Texas and have very good beef bbq. If you pick the right day they have beef ribs, and those things are massive and great, but they do not make those every day.
As for the best pork bbq in the state of Ga, that is easy, Vandy's in Statesboro has the best pulled BBQ in the state and the best I have ever had period. You will not beat it. Two Brothers over in Ball Ground is very good too, we stop there on the way back from Lanier sometimes.
There is a place outside Aiken South Carolina that is good too, Dukes, it is close to the Savannah River Plant so you might glow a little for a few days after eating there, but the BBQ is top-notch.

up Not so sure I like the idea of going into Atlanta these days but the other places sound good.

I would agree with everyone’s assessment that Georgia does excellent pork BBQ and Texas rules with beef BBQ. On point…

But, Texas does baby back ribs really well. I think for the amount of work and time, I prefer to smoke up a rack over a brisket. What do you prefer?
