I found myself alone the other day sitting on the porch of my shed. Next thing you know, I’m cutting on a stick with my faithful old Kershaw. What started out as a pretty big stick turned into a pretty small stick. It got sharp and pointy too! I was afraid it might be a hazzard to a squirrel or something so I broke off the tip and started over. This time, I was trying to make another stick square. It’s a lot harder to whittle a stick into a square shape than sharp and pointy.

How do you guys whittle? Sharp and pointy or square?

When I’m alone, I like to whittle round and pointy. Like small, deformed arrows that would never fly straight. I would probably starve to death if I ever had to rely on killing meat with an arrow.

Sometimes, when there is a swirl in the wood, it looks like an eyeball, and then I think I could carve something cool like a rhino or something, but then I give up on the idea.
