Our first event of August coming up this Saturday night, August 8, 2020. Hoping to see all of you out there!! The tournament will run from 8 PM (instead of 7 PM) till 3 AM (instead of 2 AM). I will be there around 6:30 PM, it is our hope that you will arrive 6:30 or later to allow the parking lot to clear out a little bit and not add to the chaos that was there already! Please monitor us here and on the Facebook page for Allatoona Tournament group.
The fees are $50 ($10 to Big Bass and $40 to a 1-5 payback, more than 25 entries will pay 6 places no matter what) and an optional $10 Side Pot, heaviest sack wins all.
5 fish limit, 12" minimum, one dead fish allowed, Big Bass must be alive. I will be watching fish mortality this summer, if we start seeing a lot of dead fish we will reduce the limit to 3 fish instead of 5.
No live bait
All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp. Please remember the launch fee is a Bartow County fee and not a CoE launch fee, there is a booth at the park entrance now with an attendant, you pay for the day or buy an annual pass.

Well the night started out with a bang! 7PM brought a huge clap of thunder and lightning, then wind and an extremely hard rain, then a barrage of quarter sized hail, more rain and lots more rain!! By 8 PM it was done. I will be going out to the garage after I finish this to see if there was any damage on the truck, and to clean out the pine straw and bits and pieces of limbs out of the boat. A lot of boats were already in the water and rode it out in their boats, no reports of any injuries (except Michael Keeney and I think his pride was hurt more than anything when he found out the plug wasn't in right and that big boat of his was taking on more than just rainwater!! The problem solver power poled down then went over the side to fix his problem while his partner was finding a spot to park the truck). We had 33 paid entries last night, and 71 anglers fishing. There were 85 fish brought to the scales for 132.57 lbs (an average of 1.56 lbs per fish). There were only 4 large-mouth weighed and Big Bass was a spotted bass. Here's how the money paid out: 6th place went to Gary and Mark with 5 fish for 8.34 lbs and $66 5th place was Jamey and Chris with 5 fish for 8.83 lbs and $132 4th place went to Greg and Brian with 5 fish for 8.88 lbs and $224 3rd place was Nick and Zach (we like to call them "Tunney in the Money") with 5 fish for 9.17 lbs and $264 2nd place went to Jeff and Scott (if I could think of a rhyming title like the Tunney brothers have, I would tag these two regulars in the money! Always there for sure!). They had 5 fish for 10.29 lbs and $304 1st place went to Monty and Kris (also members of our bass club, who we will be competing against in our club tourney next Saturday night! I guess we got a preview last night!?). They weighed 5 fish for 10.35 lbs and Big Bass with a spot for 3.54 lbs (just .01 lbs over the Willard clan who had a 3.53 lb spot). Their total take last night? $330 for first, $350 for the side pot, and $330 for Big Bass! congrats!
Our next event will be on August 22, 2020 which will be another 8 till 3 event. My intentions are to revert back to the 7 till 2 time frame for the final two events in September if the crowds at the ramp die down and the weather cools. It will be getting dark earlier as well. More to come!
