Season Finale for the Sunday Afternoon events. Unless I receive some forced direction from the lake authorities or the county we are still on for this Sunday afternoon. You guys did a wonderful job last Sunday of honoring the 6' rule at the weigh in and using safe elbow bumping instead of handshakes. Signing up was smooth as well (except for my moment of senility in the collection process); those who paid me $25 for the entry and there are four of you please let me know because I over-charged you by $5. Let's keep this event safe and show the folks that we can still maintain some sense of normal in these chaotic times. I should be out there between 11:30 and noon, to collect entry fees.
Fees are unchanged, $20 to the tournament which includes a $5 Big Bass, and a 1-5 payback (6 places after 25 no matter how many) and a $10 side pot (optional but everyone gets in it!). Rules are simple: you decide individual/team/how many in the team, 3 fish limit per entry, 1 dead fish allowed and Big Bass must be alive, no live bait and be courteous and friendly. Most of all, HAVE FUN!
The park manager wanted me to remind you guys that this is not a COE ramp and the COE passes will not work here. Please either get an envelope and put your money in the box down by the ramp on the right, or get the Bartow County launch pass ($5 a day or $40 for the annual).
All events are 1PM till 5PM until the daylight savings time shift in March then we finish out at 1PM till 6PM.
All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp

It absolutely breaks my heart to have to cancel this event, but my better judgement is to recognize the severity of this monster that we are dealing with. Today the Bartow County Commissioner Steve Taylor posted the official Emergency Administrative Declaration. It didn't specifically include verbiage about tournaments and gathering in crowds of any size OUTSIDE, the rest of the message imposed restrictions for every place else. Even though this is my last Sunday for the season and I look forward to putting it on, my gut feeling tells me that i should cancel it. Hopefully, things will improve enough so that we can still have the Porko's Spring Day on April 11, 202. I will keep you posted.
