Wow, this already the fourth event of the new year!! Time flies for sure!! Joe C. showed us the heavy bag of this season so far last week. I fully expect him to do it again or even better the weight, but I also know that we have some other Toona anglers that are fully capable of that as well. The funny thing about big bass is that they don't know who slinging the baits so anyone, at anytime, can hook up with Big Mama! Come on out and be that person!! We'll see you on Sunday! All events are 1PM till 5PM until the daylight savings time shift in March then we finish out at 1PM till 6PM. All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp

The afternoon wasn't too bad, weather-wise. Overcast skies, highs in the low 50s, light wind. Water was slightly stained where we were (McKaskey Cr) with 46-47 degree temps. There was a pretty good turnout today with 29 boats plus mine, 51 anglers weighing 64 bass for a total of 100.31 lbs (6 LMB). We managed a pretty smooth launch and load even though it was a bit slow with only one ramp open. Thanks to Mark S. for volunteering to blast everyone off! Here's the way the money paid out: Jacob and myself had sixth place with 3 fish for 5.29 lbs and $22 Kelly had 5th place with 3 fish for 5.68 lbs and $44, Hopefully someone who knows him will let him know that I have an envelope for him. Ironically this is the first event he's fished in about 5 weeks and today we managed to get him the envelope from the last time he won a little money! Stick around for the pay out guys, don't assume your sack won't get anything until it's over! Mike G. and Andy had 4th place with 3 fish for 5.78 lbs and $74 (See what I told ya, Andy?? you picked a ringer!!) Wayne I. was in the money again with a 3rd place finish with 3 fish for 5.86 lbs and $87 Bob (FnF) A. had second place with 3 fish for 6.42lbs for $100 (that's the second time this winter that Mr. Bob got in the money with the Float n Fly! Largemouth Master, Joe C. got the trifecta (again) with 3 fish for 8.51 lbs and Big Bass with a 4.38 lb LMB. He picked up $108 for 1st, $145 for Big Bass. and $300 for the side pot!!
Super Bowl Sunday next weekend but you can get this tournament done and still make it home (or wherever) for the game. Personally, not a big fan of the NFL anymore so I ain't worried about it. Come on out and join us!!
