Guys I do not know about you, but our lake has changed. The water temps have gone down, but the outside air is hotter. Did the lake flip? Within one week I went from catching fish at 12-14 feet deep to 4-10 feet deep.

That might account for the fishing on lake Weiss in Alabama too. Temps are hot, but I think that cool spell in August caused the water to cool just enough to cause somewhat of a turnover.

Interesting. I do not know much about your lakes, which is why I got on this board. I live in Texas but plan next year to work my way down the southern states fishing. Keep a line wet brother.

I am a native Texan, moved out here in 2007 for the "company". Love it up here in Northwest Georgia, mountains and deep clear lakes and then hour west is Lake Weiss in Alabama, 90 minutes to the north is Chickamauga in Tennesee, 2 hours to the west is Guntersville. Surrounded by good fishing!

That is awesome. It is always nice to have water around you! I am 10 minutes from Lake Tyler, 15 minutes from Lake Palestine and 45 from Lake Fork. I grew up in Louisiana so I have fished there, but plan to start in MS, then hit at least one per state from MS, AL, GA, ending at Hartwell lake in SC, then working my way back through TN, AK and home. This is all depending on if my wife lets me go! haha. Think it would make a great show. Will have to get with you and get some info when the time gets closer. The only two lakes that I know I want to fish are Hartwell Lake in SC and Grenada Lake in MS. I might even if time permits make my way to NC and do a little visit at my old home of the 82nd Airborne. Anyway, thanks for messaging me back. BTW, where in TX were you before moving to GA? I was in GA for a short time when I was stationed at Fort Gordon. Beautiful state.

I used to love fishing those lakes, Tyler was cool with the homes right on the water and the canal connecting the two lakes. My favorite area was on the north end of the east lake. there were about three parallel ridges that held fish during the summer (bass). My son, his wife and my grandkids live near Coffee Landing by lake Palestine, My mom lives about half way between Fairfield and Palestine, Many of my friends live around Lake Fork. You would definitely need to include Lake Weiss on your Crappie adventures since it is billed as the Crappie Capital of the World. There is a nice little hotel in Centre, AL on HWY 9 that has a giant Crappie statue in front of it, from Lake Weiss heyday!
Grenada has a long history of fine crappie fishing, I know Bill Dance made a many good video on that lake. The last place I lived was in Arlington, TX (16 years), Been with the Texas fishing Forum since 2001, been a moderator since about 2002. JP created the GFF after I moved out here.

That is cool that you know this area! I will for sure take your advice on those lakes when I get to that point. Thanks so much.
