We are now in June, my friends, and looking to our next tournament! We had a full turnout on the last one and I am expecting another good turnout for this one! Just a reminder that I will always be boat number 49 on a full load so that means I can have 48 more boats. Once we hit that number I have to turn people away (I hate it, but that's how it works). So get there early enough to ensure your entry! The weather is finally cooling down a bit and the rain chance is increasing (long range forecast shows 60% scattered thunderstorms for Saturday night, we know how that can change). I'm thinking these will be the typical summertime variety that pop up and quickly rains itself out. Not worried at this point. We will also have a donation bucket out for the Cline family on behalf of Jacob Cline who is very serious condition as he recovers from a horrible automobile accident! Prayers are also welcome! Looking forwards to seeing you folks this Saturday!
The hours will be 7PM till 2AM, and all events will be held out Bartow County Gatewood Boat Ramp in Cartersville, GA. There will be a $50 entry fee ($10 to the Big Bass pot and $40 to a 1-5 payback, maximum 6 places), and an optional $10 side pot (winner take all on total weight). I have a 49 boat limit to avoid the $1million insurance cost. Even though we've come close a time or two we've never gone over that. I don't reserve spots in advance so get there early because if we ever reach 49 I will have to turn away anyone after that. The park launch fee is unchanged at $5 a launch or $40 annual pass (if you fish most of my Sunday Afternoons and Midnight Madness, the $40 is definitely more economical). Rules?? yeah we do but only a few: 1. largemouth and spotted bass only, minimum 12", 5 bass limit, one dead fish allowed, but if weighing for Big Bass - Big Bass must be alive 2. Artificial baits only, no live bait (we tried it once and only one guy tried it for one trip, complained about the minnow bucket spilling on his carpet, end of that). 3. no rod length limits and trolling is allowed (not really a rule, I just put this in there because folks invariably ask me about it). 4. No alcohol during any of my events, ever. There is nothing more obnoxious or more dangerous than a drunk fisherman or boater. If I find out that you are doing it I will address it and my decision will be final. We just don't need it. All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp If the lot is full or the pay-box has no envelopes, just let me know and I will give you directions

Well it looks like it was good decision to fish last night, instead of shying away because of undependable weather forecast! We had 37 paid entries, 38 boats total with 140 anglers that made the same decision. 10 Boats did not weigh fish and I would be willing to bet they caught fish that were either short or they didn't think would compete (on that note, if you have weighable fish please bring them to the scales that is useful data. Believe me, I have experience being "humbled" by weighing all those heavier sacks! YOU GET USED TO IT! LOL). In the final analysis we had 140 anglers that weighed 140 fish for 248.54lbs (average 178lbs per fish). There was a upswing in the number of largemouth bass weighed this morning with18 fish and two of those over 4lbs. Big Bass was not a largemouth, it was a big old spot weighing in 4.48lbs We paid six places, Big Bass and a Side Pot last night, here is who walked away with some money: 6th place was a tie with 9.79lbs, Scott B. / Derrick L. and Charlie M. / Joe B split the $74 place money 5th place went to Hunter and Matt with 5 fish for 10.04 and $148 4th place was Mark S. (by himself) for 5 fish weighing 10.55lbs and $252 3rd place went to Brian B. and Gambler Greg with 5 fish for 12.54lbs and $296 (two times in the money in a row! 2nd place went to Ricky Wright (fishing solo and winning money frequently!) with 5 fish for 12.79lbs for $340 and Big Bass with the 4.48lb spot for $380! (Mama's Walmart money!!) 1st place was Daniel and Trent with 5 fish for 13.32lbs (with two anchor fish LMB over 3lbs!), good for $370 and the Side pot at $380 Allatoona is healthy and weigh-ins like that one is the evidence! Congratulations to the money spots and to all the anglers weighing fish, Job WELL DONE!
We also collected another $201 for the Cline family! Jacob Cline is doing better but has a long recovery road ahead of him. Please keep him in your prayers. he and the Cline family truly appreciate the prayers and the support this community has given them, but it's not time to let up yet!
