We'll back home at Gatewood this weekend and the weather looks like it's going to be overcast and warm. They are still pulling the lake hard. It's Wednesday morning as I write this and the MSL is 846 1/2' and dropping about a foot a day! So we will probably be almost down to 841' MSL by Sunday afternoon and that is still over summer pool! These poor fish won't know what's going on as the water warms and they should be positioning for the spawn (normally the lake rising slowly this time of year), but they are being pulled away from the shallow water. Come on out anyway, you might just be the one who can figure it out! I can assure you that you will be surrounded by folks trying to do just that! Looking forward to seeing all of you! The tournament runs from 1PM till 5PM. I will be there around noon to start collecting entry fees. You can usually find me down in the handicap area by the ramp $20 entry fee ($15 to a 1-5 payback, and $5 to Big Bass), and $10 optional side pot - Winner take all (total weight). 3 fish limit, one dead fish allowed. Big Bass must be alive to count. Team (no number restriction) or individual, you decide what works best for your boat. No live bait. Good sportsmanship and no alcohol during tournament. Pretty simple rules, huh? All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp If the lot is full or the pay-box has no envelopes, just let me know and I will give you directions

What a beautiful afternoon to be on the lake!! Warm temps, a little windy at times, but pretty nice all things considered. WE managed a couple of new folks to our tournaments and even though we only have one more to finish this season, I feel like they will probably come back next season! Water temps were around 54 to 57 the places Stan and I fished and the water was slight stained for the most part. The lake was still 3' over summer pool when we started and dropped about 4-5" during the tournament (sure will be glad to see them get back on track!). We had 24 paid entries, for a total of 40 anglers, Together, we weighed 54 bass (3 largemouths) for a total of 93.28lbs (an average of 1.73lbs per fish). here's how the money paid out: 5th place went to Jacob and Hunter with 3 fish for 6.07lbs for $36 4th place went to Mark S. with 3 fish for 6.11lbs and $54 3rd place went to Nick, Nick, and Robert with 3 fish for 6.44lbs and $72 2nd place was Kris Brown with 3 fish for 6.72lbs 1st place went to Joe C and partner (didn't get his name) with 3 fish for 8.82lbs and Big Bass with a largejaw for 4.99lbs. 1st place money was $108, Big Bass was $120 and the side pot was $250 WTG, guys!!
Next Sunday is our last Sunday Afternoon of the season so I hope to see a big turn out!! I can handle up to 49 entries so let's see if we can touch that number.
