Wow, we sure got January out of the way in a hurry. I'm getting too old for time to fly by this fast!!! Our First February 2019 tournament will be this Sunday. We had a great turnout last Sunday with 25 paid entries. I like it when we get that many or more. I know it's still a long way off, but the weather forecast looks pretty decent with cloudy skies and a high around 63 degrees (after the next couple of nights in the low 20s that's going to be pretty darned nice!), and no rain in the forecast. They are pulling the lake down pretty hard right now (828" MSL and dropping). I am hoping they keep the ramp at Gatewood open because I am more comfortable having my events there, You just get used to your surroundings after a number of years! Well come on out and join us, who knows this could be your Sunday!! The tournament runs from 1PM till 5PM. I will be there around noon to start collecting entry fees. You can usually find me down in the handicap area by the ramp $20 entry fee ($15 to a 1-5 payback, and $5 to Big Bass), and $10 optional side pot - Winner take all (total weight). 3 fish limit, one dead fish allowed. Big Bass must be alive to count. Team (no number restriction) or individual, you decide what works best for your boat. No live bait. Good sportsmanship and no alcohol during tournament. Pretty simple rules, huh? All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp If the lot is full or the pay-box has no envelopes, just let me know and I will give you directions

Well, who woulda Thunk!? This afternoon turned out to be a really nice and comfortable afternoon, The Water temps were even up a bit from last weekend. By all means the fishing should have been "lights out" That wasn't how it played out, however. We had 32 paid entries (33 boats with mine), only 12 boats weighed in, even the weights were down a little bit. We had 50 anglers, weighed 36 fish with 5 of those being Largemouth bass. The money spots went like this: 6th place for $24 and a weight of 5.23lbs was Darren and Albert 5th place with 5.47lbs for $48 was Nick T. 4th place with 5.51lbs for $82 was Joe Croft 3rd place with 6.10lbs for $96 was Jonathon 2nd place with 6.36lbs for $110 was Mike G, he also had big bass with 3.65lb toad worth $160 1st place with 6.54lbs for $120 was Wayne I., He also took the Side pot worth $330! We'll be back at it again next Sunday. If the weather forecast holds true, we could see even warmer water temps and maybe a slight increase in the water level! I also want to THANK Chris Day and Towboat for the generous donation towards our new weigh in scales, with their help it looks like we are ready to order them now!!
