They started draining the lake again this morning so we will be "ramp watch" this week. I am still planning it and it looks like this one will be a REAL WINTER tournament with temps falling to freezing throughout the day. NO GUTS NO GLORY!! As long as the ramp and roads aren't freezing we can handle it!! I may borrow some scales in case I can't get my old scales figured out. Hopefully we can draw a decent crowd this weekend.
The tournament runs from 1PM till 5PM. I will be there around noon to start collecting entry fees. You can usually find me down in the handicap area by the ramp $20 entry fee ($15 to a 1-5 payback, and $5 to Big Bass), and $10 optional side pot - Winner take all (total weight). 3 fish limit, one dead fish allowed. Big Bass must be alive to count. Team (no number restriction) or individual, you decide what works best for your boat. No live bait. Good sportsmanship and no alcohol during tournament. Pretty simple rules, huh?
All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp If the lot is full or the pay-box has no envelopes, just let me know and I will give you directions

Wednesday afternoon, 2:40PM. the lake MSL is 823.62 and slowly dropping. I went to Gatewood on the way back from Roswell and watched a man and his grandson launching, it wasn't pretty. The water was at the yellow line and over the next couple of days the odds are that it will be closed. With no significant rain in the forecast, looks like Gatewood is out for this weekend. I talked to the COE and got the Blockhouse ramp, for this weekend (have a club tourney on Saturday then my Sunday Afternoon on Sunday). Bundle up warm and spread the word. I will also call a few folks to get the word out.

Mostly clear, very windy and very cold, water temps around 45 degrees and heavily stained up the Allatoona Creek side, especially muddy around Tanyard and Clarks Creeks. We had 8 boats including mine, and a total 13 nuts (I mean anglers!!) out there this afternoon. Together we managed to bring 15 fish to the scales (2 LMB). Needless to say, weigh in went quickly and thank goodness for that because it was COLD!! two places paid and here are those money spots: 2nd place went to Will, Gage and Dwayne with 3 fish for 6.49lbs for $48 1st place went to Jarrod W. with 3 fish for 6.54lbs and Big Bass of 2.84lb LMB for $40 and $72 for first with the side pot of $80
The lake kept coming up the whole time we were out there. It was up at about 1 1/2' from yesterday and another foot while we fished!! We'll see what 's in store for next weekend! See ya'll then!
