The long range forecast is looking pretty decent for this time of year with highs in the lower 50s and DRY! We had 16 paid entries this past Sunday, but I hope to see the numbers back up this weekend. Hopefully you can join us!!
The rain brought the lake back up almost 4' so you know they are going to pull really hard this week to get it back down towards the winter pool target of 823" MSL. We have more rain in the forecast so we will just watch and see where we end up on Sunday!
I am hoping to upgrade the tournament scales in 2019 so I am going to start collecting donations if you are interested in chipping in. As we get into 2019 a bit and the donations fall off I may charge a $2-$5 fee over and above the normal fees to help pay for the scales. Right now I am looking at a set that weighs up to 60 pounds with weight lock feature for about $549 to $600. Any help is always appreciated.

The tournament runs from 1PM till 5PM. I will be there around noon to start collecting entry fees. You can usually find me down in the handicap area by the ramp
$20 entry fee ($15 to a 1-5 payback, and $5 to Big Bass), and $10 optional side pot - Winner take all (total weight).
3 fish limit, one dead fish allowed. Big Bass must be alive to count. Team (no number restriction) or individual, you decide what works best for your boat. No live bait. Good sportsmanship and no alcohol during tournament. Pretty simple rules, huh?

All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp
If the lot is full or the pay-box has no envelopes, just let me know and I will give you directions

The rain finally stopped but that chilly north wind was with us for the afternoon. Definitely felt colder than it probably was (51 degrees at tournament start). The water continues to cool down, with temps around 47 degrees most places that Stan and I fished today. I heard that there was a stain to muddy conditions the further you went up the Etowah, but the water clean well past the Allatoona Pass on the Allatoona Creek side of the lake. We managed a respectable 21 paid entries this afternoon with 37 anglers weighing 36 fish for a total weight of 72.37lbs, an average of 2.01lbs (a little better than the last few weeks). WE only had 3 largemouth weighed today and one of those was Big Bass for 3.66lbs.
Here's how it paid out this evening:
5th place went to Ricky W. with 3 fish for 6.15lbs and Big Bass for 3.66lbs, he had $32 for 5th and $105 for Big Bass!
4th place went to Dante and Dante with 3 fish for 6.17lbs and $47
3rd place was Albert and Darren with 3 fish for 7.14lbs and $63
2nd place went to Dylan and Ty with 3 fish for 7.16lbs and $79
1st place was Danny and Rick with 3 fish for 8.83lbs for $94 and the Side pot for $220!! great job!!

Thanks to Chris Day for stopping by today after weigh in and sharing information about Tow Boat US. It sounds like a really good deal that I will more than likely put my $72 up. One thing I know with absolute certainty is that when you fish as much as we do, an on the water breakdown is a matter of "when", not "if". The service Chris offers is a 24-7 deal no matter what. There are a number of other perks that go with it. I will be inviting him to post some info on the classified section of the GFF for those interested.
We will be out there again next Sunday so come on out and join us!!
