Wow! This summer went by way too fast!! Here we are in September with this event and one more night event for the 2018 season. I hope to see ya'll out there, and I hope the summer pleasure boat crowd is gone for the summer too. This past weekend was tragic with two folks who died on the lake and several injuries and boat fires. It was a good weekend to STAY away from the lake! Come on out and join us this coming Saturday night
Remember you are not limited to two people, you determine how many people you want in your boat. one entry fee equals one limit of fish. you are allowed only one dead fish per limit (Big Bass must be alive). So if you want to load up the wife and kids, that's fine. Grandpa and the grandkids is fine too. Your regular fishing partner or solo, makes no difference to me. All I ask is that you be careful, safe, respectful and courteous. We will be blasting off in order of sign up, remember not to jump the gun, go when your number is called. Try to position your boat to the side in which you intend to go (left, center or right). If a boat is entering the cove, let them in before you go. Tournaments start at 7PM on Saturday evening and end at 2AM Sunday morning. The rules are simple: 5 fish limit, minimum 12", 1 dead fish allowed, Big Bass must be alive. no live bait and no cast or gill nets (all fish caught on hook). no rod length limits and trolling is allowed. You determine if you are a team or fishing individual (you can only weight 5 fish per entry). Common courtesy and sportsmanship are fully expected, and no mind altering substances are allowed (alcohol or drugs) during the tournament (I didn't want to impose this rule but I have heard rumors and wanted to squelch any notion that I condone consumption during the tournaments). The Entry fee is $50 ($10 to Big Bass, and $40 to a 1-5 payback, we pay 6 places from 25 entries to 49 entries, I cannot have more than 49 entries due to a $1million insurance requirement by the CoE). I will normally be up by the restrooms at the top of the parking lot, if not, then look for me in the handicap parking by the ramp. All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp If the lot is full or the pay-box has no envelopes, just let me know and I will give you directions

What a beautiful night on the water, a little muggy when we started but it cooled down to a very comfortable evening. Once again I am humbled by the results at the weigh in! I stumbled last night and couldn't figure it out. Judging by the number of folks that did figure it out I realized that the lake was cooperating, just not where Ken and I went! LOL! I talked with one team who caught every single one of their fish on Spinner baits, another team all on worms, yet another caught most of there's on jigs and some on Top water. We threw everything but top-water and only managed 4 small keepers! You can see by the top six that they didn't struggle at all! Way to go, Guys! 6th place went to Brian and Greg with 5 fish for 9.41lbs for $64 5th place was Kyle and Roger with 5 fish for 9.50lbs and $128 4th place went to Dave W. with 5 fish 9.97lbs and $218 3rd place went to Wesley and Scott with 5 fish for 10.22lbs for $256 and Big Bass with a 3.96lb LMB for $320 2nd place went to Jamie and Donnie with 5 fish for 10.38lbs and $294 1st place went to the formidable team of Mike M. and Jarrod (a.k.a. Ringer and Lakemeister, interchangeable either of them can wear the titles!) with 5 fish for 11.58lbs for $320 and the Side Pot of $330!!
The most humbled person at weigh in is the director, and it never ceases to amaze me how these guys seem to pull off a good catch! We have one more night event for this season, on the 29th of September so come on out for the next one!

Bob, it was the "haves and the have not's"; that is why I left early!
Sorry, I won't be there on the 29th -unless I decide to go without sleep for two days...
