Last night event for August coming up this Saturday night! We had a huge turn out at our last one! Going to be interesting to see how many show up this time. I have to limit this to 49 entries or pay a huge liability insurance premium! I doubt it will ever happen but if it does, I will have to turn folks away after 49 entries. Let's worry about that IF it happens. Come on out and have some fun.
Remember you are not limited to two people, you determine how many people you want in your boat. one entry fee equals one limit of fish. you are allowed only one dead fish per limit (Big Bass must be alive). So if you want to load up the wife and kids, that's fine. Grandpa and the grandkids is fine too. Your regular fishing partner or solo, makes no difference to me. All I ask is that you be careful, safe, respectful and courteous. We will be blasting off in order of sign up, remember not to jump the gun, go when your number is called. Try to position your boat to the side in which you intend to go (left, center or right). If a boat is entering the cove, let them in before you go. Tournaments start at 7PM on Saturday evening and end at 2AM Sunday morning. The rules are simple: 5 fish limit, minimum 12", 1 dead fish allowed, Big Bass must be alive. no live bait and no cast or gill nets (all fish caught on hook). no rod length limits and trolling is allowed. You determine if you are a team or fishing individual (you can only weight 5 fish per entry). Common courtesy and sportsmanship are fully expected, and no mind altering substances are allowed (alcohol or drugs) during the tournament (I didn't want to impose this rule but I have heard rumors and wanted to squelch any notion that I condone consumption during the tournaments). The Entry fee is $50 ($10 to Big Bass, and $40 to a 1-5 payback, we pay 6 places from 25 entries to 49 entries, I cannot have more than 49 entries due to a $1million insurance requirement by the CoE). I will normally be up by the restrooms at the top of the parking lot, if not, then look for me in the handicap parking by the ramp. All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp If the lot is full or the pay-box has no envelopes, just let me know and I will give you directions

Full Moon, very comfortable temps and a light breeze made for a great night on the water!! We had 40 paid entries and 42 boats on the water last night with a total of 84 anglers slugging it out!! For those who are math wizards, the two non paid boats were my boat and another team that was gracious enough to make us the "I fish Porko's" Stickers (compensation entry). If I didn't give you a sticker when you signed up it's because you signed up before they got the stickers to me. Ask me for one/two the next time we fish! WE had 133 fish brought to the scales for a total of 232.71lbs (and average of 1.75lbs per fish). WE also had 17 largemouth bass weighed in last night, but Big Bass was a spotted bass (Sorry, Mr. Hakala!). We paid six places last night, but as it turns out there was a tie for second place and ended up with a total of five places. Any how, here's how it went down: 5th place Went to Bearden and Owens with 5 fish for 9.62lbs for $80 4th place was Rick and Danny with 5 fish for 10.22lbs and $160 3rd place was Jamie and Kevin with 5 fish for 10.41 for $320, they also had Big Bass with a 4.80lb Spotted Bass for $400 2nd place was Scott Chatham with 5 fish for 10.52lbs for $344 and the other 2nd place went to Chuck and Joe with 5 fish for 10.52lbs and $344 1st place went to the Tunney brothers, Nick and Zack, with 5 fish for 10.79lbs for $400 and the side pot of $420! That was a great tournament for sure, I shudder to think how much our totals would look like if everyone brought their fish to the scales. 14 boats did not weigh fish and I know that those anglers probably caught fish but just didn't think they had a shot at the money spots. Our next event is on September 8. That means we are nearly done with the night fishing for this year. Our last night fishing event is on September 29. Then the first Sunday in November we start the Sunday Afternoon events back up!
