This coming Saturday night, hope to see a good turnout!! We had 41 paid entries last time, I would like to see a 50 boat turn out this time. That would be awesome!! I will be there between 5:30 and 6:00. I may go straight to the handicapped parking and sign folks up down there, so if you don't see me on top of the hill look for me by the ramp.
All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp

I, for one, must have gotten hold of a really bad weather forecast!! When I laid down for a quick nap yesterday afternoon it was my understanding that we had a 10% chance of rain before 8PM then 0% after that with nice temps and gentle northerly breeze. I saw the first of is skirting to the east and thought we were might just dodge the bullet. Another big mistake on my part! I had enough time to get my rain jacket on, needless to say from the bottom of the jacket to my toes got soaked!! When it started to lightning, I put the rods down and we rode it out. My guess is that the whole thing lasted about 45 minutes or so and at times it was coming down very hard!
Anyway, we had 35 paid entries, with my boat that came to 36 boats last night. 64 anglers battled it out, 12 boats did not weigh fish. Those that did brought 110 fish to the scales for a total weight of 175.25lbs (avg 1.59lbs per fish) and only 6 largemouth bass. Interestingly there were two monster spotted bass brought to the scales, one weighing 5.06 and the other weighing 5.23 (took Big Bass).
We paid 6 places, Big Bass and a side pot last night and here's how it went down:
6th place went to Craig and Max with 5 fish for 8.87lbs, good for $70
5th place was Scott and Jeff with 5 fish for 9.13lbs and that paid $140
4th place went to Allan D. and Jarrod with 5 fish for 9.72lbs and $238
3rd place was Chuck and Derrick with 5 fish for 11.15lbs and $280
2nd place was Fat Rat and Terry with 5 fish for 11.17lbs and $322
1st place went to Bill P and Chad W with 5 fish for 11.23 and a beautiful Big Bass of 5.23lbs (spot). They had a clean sweep with $350 for 1st, $350 for Big Bass and $360 for the side pot!! Great job guys!!
Our next even is July 8, 2017, I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable 4th of July and get to wet the hook several times before the next event!!
and yes there is a picture!
