I know, I know!! It's Memorial Day weekend and the crazies will be out there! I will be there too! (I have been referred to as "crazy" a time or two in my life! lol). Ya'll are welcome to join me! Who knows there might even be a few fish weighed in, and maybe a little money to be won?? I will those of you who want to join me around 6PM and start fishing at 7PM..
All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp.

Sure enough, there were plenty of boaters and limited parking (at Gatewood), but it worked out pretty well all things considered. The crowd died down quickly at dark and it turned out to be a pretty nice night until around 12:30-1:00AM. That line of thunderstorms came through hard and fast and cleared out in time for the bulk of the weigh in to happen (without rain). We pulled out of the water right in the middle of the down pour with cranking battery issues (about 12:45). After we got tied down, we went ahead a weighed several limits for those who came off the lake when we did. Then we waited.... for almost an hour... in the last five minutes it looked like Gatewood was "under attack" from all of the boats flying back in!! lol.
WE had 27 paid entries, 28 boats with mine. There were 54 anglers and they brought 102 fish to the scales for a total of 173.11 (average of 1.70 per fish). There were only 3 largemouth weighed last night and the Big Bass was a 3.11lb Spotted bass. There were 6 places, Big Bass and a side pot paid and here's who won the money:
Big Bass went to Jarrod with the 3.11lb Spot, good for $270!
6th place was Fat Rat and Terry (when asked who caught the fish, Fat Rat said "bofus"), 5 fish for 9.71lbs and $54
5th place went to Gary F. and Mark with 5 fish for 9.97lbs and $108
4th place was Scott and Jeff with 5 fish for 10.30lbs and $184
3rd place was Your's Truly and Jacob B. with 5 fish for 10.35lbs and $216
2nd place was Chris M. and Jeff S. with 5 fish for 10.82lbs and $248
1st place went to Lonnie T. and John (Shrek) with 5 fish for 11.25lbs and $270, they also got the Side Pot for $270 (I think our Lonnie is on a 11 and a 1/4lb roll right now, since he won our 2-day club event on Weiss last weekend with nearly the same weight each day!!
Any way, I hope to have my battery issue resolved over the next couple of days, certainly by the time we hit it again on June 10th, 2017
Until then , be safe and tight lines!!!
