Are you ready for another Midnight Madness? June 25, 2016 7PM till 2AM, so come on out. The long range forecast looks pretty good right now. As a reminder, it is not necessary that you launch at Gatewood, you can come to this event by water. I do not mandate livewell checks, but if someone wishes to check you when you come up by water, please do not take offense, just oblige them and show them everything is on the up and up. Also, to remind everyone that I do not determine the make-up of your team or individual for that matter. Each "entry" is allowed to weigh 5 fish. The "entry" is your decision, it can be 1 person or 5 persons all in the same boat. The reason behind this is to encourage folks to come out and enjoy it whether it's with your best friend, or your son/daughter, their friends, or other folks who want to go fishing with you. It's meant to be low-key and fun. If you see a boat with three folks in it, that is ok and in line with the principles of this tournament. Come on out and have fun!
All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp. We usually collect money at the top of the parking lot near the restrooms.

Summer is definitely here! The heat and the boat crowds are out in full force! Fortunately, it all calms down after dark and it turned out to be a pretty nice night on the water. After we get the next weekend out of the way things will settle down for a couple of months, with the boat crowds.
We ended up with 34 boats including mine, for a total of 63 anglers. we weighed in 90 fish for a total of 154.02lbs, 11 of those were largemouth bass. In fact the Big Bass of the night was a 6.71lb largemouth!! (sorry, I didn't get a picture of it)
There were 6 places paid and Big Bass and a side pot. here's the folks that battled the boat traffic and brought in the "SACKS" for a paycheck last night:
6th place went to Daniel and Trent with 5 spots for 8.83lbs and $66
5th place went to Nick and Wyatt with 5 fish for 9.96lbs and $132
4th place was Stacey and Dennis with 5 fish for 10.49lbs for $224
3rd place was Chad W. and Bill with 5 fish for 11.96lbs and $264
2nd place went to Scott and Jeff with 5 fish for 13.53lbs and $304 (These fellows have placed in the money on every one of this year's Midnight Madness events!!)
1st place went to Derrick and Chuck with 5 largemouth toads for 14.02lbs and a 6.71lb Big Bass! they earned $330 for 1st, $330 for Big Bass and $330 for the side pot! Not bad for an evening on the water!!

I am sure that once again there were a lot of folks that simply released their fish rather than weigh them in. In Fact out of 34 boats/entries there were 15 that did not weigh fish. Folks, I understand and sometimes I am glad to get a faster weigh in done, but in the essence of keeping good stats on this lake, your fish really do count. So if you have something in your live-well bring them to the scales and add them to the totals.

Our next event will be on July 9th, so come on out and join us!!
