Our second Midnight Madness of the season this coming Saturday Night! Hoping we get a good crowd (28 boats last time), Ya'll come on out and let's do it!

All tournaments are held out of Bartow County Gatewood Park: Exit GA-20 exit on I-75 and turn east, Turn south at the light (right from I-75, left from Canton) next to Wendy's onto Spur 20. Go about 2 miles and turn left on Jim Knight Rd., Turn left when it dead ends at the Bartow Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE maintenance yard). Stay on the Beach road and stay to the left past the park Manager's house and follow the signs to the left to the boat ramp. We usually collect money at the top of the parking lot near the restrooms.

Well, for a Holiday weekend the parking lot was pretty much full when we got there, but started thinning before we even blasted off. There were a few folks that had to park up in the Gatewood Park area. The good news is that this tournament was our ONLY Holiday weekend event for the season! Another good thing I noted last night (as did several other anglers) was the patrol boats on the lake. They were definitely working the boaters last night and I am betting they were looking for BWI violators. This was a welcome site! After dark the lake cleared off quickly making for a pretty enjoyable night of fishing (although I wish the bigger fish would've cooperated a little more!).
We ended up with 22 boats including Wally and I, for a total of 42 anglers. 17 boats brought limits to the scales. The weights were down from a couple of weeks ago, but still pretty decent. We paid 5 places, Big Bass and a side pot last night and here's how it went down:
5th place was Michel and Brian with 5 fish for 8.16lbs and $84
4th place was Daniel and Trent with 5 fish for 9.10lbs and $126
3rd place went to Tom and David with 5 fish for 9.60lbs and $168
2nd place was Scott and Jeff with 5 fish 9.74lbs and $210
1st place went to Gary and Mark with 5 fish for 9.98lbs for $252 and side pot of $220, and a spotted bass at 3.17lbs for Big Bass at $210. Nice chunk of change for 22 boats!
Awesome job to the winners!
The next event will be June 11th, 2016, Gatewood Boat Ramp, 7PM till 2AM. It looks like fish are quickly transitioning to the summer pattern so things should become more predictable!
If you haven't fished with us then you owe it to yourself to come on out and see what you are missing!
