Last Sunday afternoon of the season. There won't be anymore until November 2016. ya'll come one out and let's end this season with a record turnout!
From I-75 North or South, Take Exit 290 (Cartersville/GA20 Exit) Travel East on GA 20 approximately 500 feet and take a right on GA Spur 20 (Between Kangaroo Grocery and Wendy's), travel approximately 3 miles and take a left on Bartow County Beach Road (the Corps signs no longer exist, so look for the small Gatewood Ramp sign)or turn left on Jim Knight Rd. and go till it dead-ends to Bartow County Beach Rd and turn left. Travel to the end of Bartow County Beach Road and the ramp will be on your left

The final Sunday afternoon event is over for this season. We will start them back up again in November. I must be getting old because these Sunday afternoon tournaments go by faster and faster each year (scary stuff right there!). You could only describe the weather as windy and cold today, not a all what we had all last week! We didn't break any records with the turn out, but we still ended up with a respectable 23 paid entries for a total of 42 anglers. that was pretty much the average this year with several really high participations and a couple low turn outs because of the weather. Several of you guys really impressed me by fishing every one of them year! When it was over this evening there were 60 fish weighed for a total of 113.33lbs (an average of 1.89lbs per fish), 9 of those were Largemouth Bass. The Big Bass of the event was a spotted bass that came in at 4.85lbs (WTG, Gary Fowler!!). Here are the top five spots for today; 5th place went to Wally and I with 3 fish for 6.38lbs and $35 4th place went to Jason M with 3 fish for 6.83lbs and $52, Should've been there with him today, Babe! 3rd place was Joe C with 3 fish for for 7.65lbs and $69 (the Croft family, as usual, one of the most consistent boats this season!) 2nd place was Jamie and Donnie with 3 fish for 7.76lbs and $86 1st place went "Mr. Retired Guy" Gary Fowler with 3 fish for 7.95lbs, Gary also had the behemoth Spotted bass at 4.85lbs. Gary netted $103 for first, $115 for Big Bass and $240 side pot. Just awesome!
April 23 will be the next event for a Porko weigh in. I am helping the Kennesaw State University Fishing Team with their fund-raiser event this year. We will be having the tournament at Gatewood again with a $75 entry fee, $25 to the team, $10 Big Bass and $40 to a 1plc for every 5 entries pay out, more than 30 entries will be 6 places regardless. The lake should be a full spawning mode by then so look for some huge sacks to come in.
I enjoyed it tremendously folks, and really love seeing all of you out there! Get ready for the Midnight Madness events starting up in May! Everything is on the Calendar (link in the grey toolbar)
