Finally getting the opportunity to sit down and and talk a little about some fishing on the "Big-G" the last few days. Last Wednesday was my day 3 with the 2 gentlemen from North Carolina, and even though they were not able to get a "big-un" for a picture it wasn't from not having the opportunity to do so. That morning started out with one of the guys losing a big fish on a 3/4 oz. Rat-L-Trap, from there on it seemed to go down hill. We moved to another area and the same results, another very big fish and another loss, and a few more cast's later, same story a third time, another big fish and another loss. Had to feel sorry for the guys because of losing several big fish during their 3 day trip here, but they still had a blast with some great fishing and great times on the water. The weekend started out with myself fishing a tournament out of Goose Pond and after getting a few solid keepers on a Choo Choo Lures Shaker I went to some shallow cover and was able to get a 4 and an 8 on a Shaker also. I finished with 19.34 lbs.but wasn't able to finish in the money, but I want to congratulate the winners with over 28 lbs. I also want to congratulate my friend and tournament partner Tracey Robinson on finishing 3rd. in the BFL, great job. Yesterday I had another trip with a gentleman wanting to learn different patterns of fishing shallow and deep grass areas, and was able to get a few fish on 3/4-1 oz. Rat-L-Traps to make it worth the half day trip. Today I got out with a father and son, and within a few cast's of getting started the son was able to get his personal best 6 lbr., and within the next few minutes the 5mph wind with the 25mph gusts started and this made us change our plans. We then move to some areas with a "little less wind", yeah right! The wind was bad and the fish were hitting, but like normal keeping them on was another common problem again. We still were able to get a few for the camera which made fighting the winds well worth the effort. Today our fish came on 1 oz. Rat-L-Traps and 1/2 oz. shakers. "WHEW", lot of catching up. Get out and have some fun. Mike Carter [Linked Image]
