Our first event of 2016 is at hand! from the looks of it we will be fishing a summer pool level lake at 840' MSL (or close to it!. A short run around the lake today revealed some pretty muddy water from area around Tanyard and Clark and starting again as you head from Gatewood to the Yacht Club beginning about Clear Creek. Water temps were about 62 degrees. The weather is looking dry, partly cloudy and in the low 50s on Sunday afternoon. We had 34 boats last weekend so lets see if we can keep the participation up this weekend. Hope everyone will have a safe, yet fun New Year's Eve. Also be careful but check out Stephen's Hangover Classic out of Galts Ferry on Friday. From I-75 North or South, Take Exit 290 (Cartersville/GA20 Exit) Travel East on GA 20 approximately 500 feet and take a right on GA Spur 20 (Between Kangaroo Grocery and Wendy's), travel approximately 3 miles and take a left on Bartow County Beach Road (the Corps signs no longer exist, so look for the small Gatewood Ramp sign)or turn left on Jim Knight Rd. and go till it dead-ends to Bartow County Beach Rd and turn left. Travel to the end of Bartow County Beach Road and the ramp will be on your left

Looks like Allatoona is finally topping out at 843.74', 3 3/4' above summer pool. Wally and I were out a couple of days ago and the lake actually fished pretty good. I hope that it will be as kind on Sunday afternoon! Right now they are calling for partly cloudy and a high around 53 degrees this Sunday, and ZERO chance of rain, and wind N-NW at 7 mph. Load on up and come on out!

Well the lake hasn't topped out yet, but the rise has really slowed down. right now the lake is a little over 844 MSL. The cleaner water appeared to be in Cooper Branch and on the Allatoona side through the pass. Wally and I didn't really check out anywhere else but I heard area were still muddy to heavily stained. Water temps ranged from 54 degree to 56 degrees (cooling down and with the forecast for the next couple of weeks I would expect it to continue cooling down). We had 25 paid entries, 26 boats with mine. A total of 45 anglers weighing 37 fish for 53.07lbs for an average of 1.43lbs per fish. We paid 5 places today, so here's how it went, from the bottom up! 5th place was Patrick and Brandon had 3 fish for 4.38lbs for $38 4th place went to Nick and Jackie Wallace with 3 fish for 4.59lbs and $56 3rd place was Jake and Jason with 3 fish for 5.13lbs and $75 2nd place went to Michael Dickson with 3 fish for 5.19lbs and $94 1st place went to Donnie and Rick G. with 3 fish for 5.90lbs and $112, the side pot of $250 and Big Bass with a spot that weighed 2.83lbs for $125 It was good seeing you all out there today, hopefully by next weekend the lake will clear a little more and the fishing will pick back up a bit. Reminder: Chris, the park manager, has the 2016 launch passes available for $40, $20 for seniors over 62 with a USGS Senior Pass. Well the holiday is over and tomorrow is the start of the 2016 work year for most of us. Be careful and we will see you next weekend!
