SPONSORS / DONORS
Directions:
North, exit 290, go east on GA-20 about 300’ and turn right on SPUR 20 by the Wendy’s fast food restaurant, Go about 2 ˝ miles to Jim Knight Rd on the left. Follow Jim Knight until it dead ends at the Bartow County Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE equipment yard and shop entrance). Turn left and follow the road to the park, bear left in front of the Park Managers residence, then left again at the split in the road. You will see the restrooms and the parking lot. I am almost always parked at the top of the hill adjacent to the non-boater parking area in front of the restrooms. Easy enough to find me because we usually have a crowd of folks gathered around swapping stories and having a good time!

I have received several questions with the majority being, I cant fish because of other commitments but would like to donate a Toy. Christie over at Natures Tackle Box in Hiram will be accepting Toy drop offs for those who would like to donate but cannot attend the tournament. We are also seeing about another location over in the Acworth/Marietta side of town also so stay tuned. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON FISHING BRING YOUR DONATION TO THE RAMP. Another questions was the $ amount of the toy(s). I am not going to place a minimum $ amount on what to spend, all I ask is please use good judgement.

Also hope to be making some other announcements soon, will see if they pan out. Still trying to find someone to feed us, If you have an inside contact let us know.

Thank you all for your support.

Danny P

Even more good news! Curly Q's Bar B Que is going to be set up Shelter #1 around midday to sell his scrumptious pulled pork, and smoked meat loaf (you really got to try this!). We will have door prizes and maybe even a raffle! Saturday is shaping up to be near perfect weather-wise! so even you aren't fishing come on out to the weigh in and door prizes. You bring a toy, I will at least give you a door prize ticket! Bring the family, foot balls or something for the young'uns to play with out in the big grassy area.
Make this a fun afternoon for the whole family!

What a great blessing this day has been, and a very long one!! Everything went off without a hitch! I arrived around 5:00 AM this morning and got this show moving. The weather was as good as you could ask for, the turnout was very good with 30 paid entries, 31 boats including ours. The donations were off the chart for the size of our event with two overflowing boxes of some really nice toys, and raffle ticket sales of $270. Jeff Kornow and his lovely wife brought their fine bar b Que and services to the event (Curly Q's BBQ). The donations ranged from tackle to soft bags and git certificates, hats, shirts, rod, reel, Catch and Release, Bow to Stern boat cleaner. in fact we raffled and drew door prizes for almost an hour! Thanks to the wonderful folks who donated/sponsored to this event and all of you who were kind of enough to participate and donate toys for the kids. It was an enjoyable day to say the least.
I will post the tournament stats shortly, but let me at least get the money spots out there so everyone can see what it took to win.
1st place went to Chad and Ryan with 5 fish for 10.58 lbs, their efforts resulted in a $300 for 1st and $290 side pot.
2nd place went to Danny and Daniel T with 5 fish for 10.01 and $276
3rd place went to Monty with 5 fish for 8.65 lbs and $240 and Big Bass with a 2.86 lb Spotted bass for $300
4th place went to Tom and Ken with 5 fish for 8.22 lbs for $204
5th place went to Stan and I (Porko) with 5 fish for 7.88 lbs for $120
and the last money spot went to Joey and Arnold with 5 fish for 7.85 lbs for $60

Now after a restful night I finally have some thoughts LOL

Cherrie Carney, who is with the Atlanta Toys for Tots, was our special guest today, and she was absolutely blown away with the participation. .The Atlanta Area Toys for Tots serves 17 metro counties and is the LARGEST area served in the US for the campaign. Cherrie is looking forward to next years event already and we kinda pre talked some marketing ideas. If it comes through, next year will be BIGGER Again I want to thank each and every person that came out, donated and fished the event. I also want to take the time to thank those who graciously donated items all on such short notice for our Door Prizes and Raffle items, Thanks to, Publix, The Dugout, Sacketts Western Wear, Tack, and Feed, Radical Tackle, Bow To Stern Protectant (BTS), 5X3 Fishing, and Matt Driver, Warren Barnes, Warren Barnes Fishing, Dustin Coosariverkilla King and BoatUS, Mike Bucca of Bull Shad Swimbaits, Stan Knowles and Coach Bagby, Academy Sports of Cartersville, & Sure Life Release Formula & Curly Q's BBQ & Professional lures out of Dalton Ga. for their donation
I also want to thank Bob Robert L Smith, for listening to my crazy idea for the fall bash benefit and agreeing to help out. Bob's relationships with the Gatewood Park folks and Bartow County allowed us to have a hassle free event.
Thanks to Ron Himmelreich for coming out and volunteering his time helping at Pre Regis and Weigh in Thanks Bud

Awesome job to all, special thanks to Danny's better half for getting up and coming out there to help with pre-registration and the toys too. Danny, I look forward to next years event and have already visited with park manager yesterday evening on my way home. He expressed a willingness to work with us on possibly setting up for the same weekend. Jeff and Mrs. Kornow of Curly Q's said they would be honored to participate with us as well. My hope is that we could make this into a family day and bass fishing tournament. We could even rent an inflatable slide or inflatable bouncy cage for the kids (the place that rents them is about 1/4 mile east of the traffic light at Spur 20 and GA-20).
I may be a bit sore this morning, but it was worth every minute of it! I enjoyed it.
