Yesterday morning started out pretty nice, weather wise. The fish were even more cooperative! As the day wore out and the sun got higher, the temperature and humidity started climbing. To make matter worse there was barely a breeze. The end result was a bunch of fellows looking "roasted, toasted, or boiled" by the time it was over! I, for one, will be pushing very hard in November, for a night tournament for the months of June, July and August!
We fished Neely Henry in 2014 on June 14th, this year was on June 13th. Last year we had 10 boats, and 16 anglers. this year was 8 boats and 13 anglers. It took 13.47 to win last year (Jake Akin), and 10.86 to win it this year, Congrats to Robbie Holmes (last year Robbie didn't weigh a fish!).
This year we had 37 fish for 68.85lbs brought to the scales, with only 3 limits (last year we weighed 52 bass for 82.21lbs, and 6 limits).
The ramp was pretty decent, except there really wasn't any areas that allowed for beaching the boats and only one area that had any shade. Fortunately, we got that area for our weigh in and much needed relief from the relentless sun.
Anyway, here are the money spots and honorable mentions!
Robbie got 1st place with 4 fish for 10.86lbs and Big Bass with a spot that weighed 4.43lbs (close but no cigar, the Calcutta goes another month!)
Lonnie T had 2nd place with 5 fish for 9.89lbs
Ken Heinrich rounded out the money spots with 5 fish for 9.30lbs
Honorable mention or "Hind Teet" goes to Wally with 5 fish for 8.93lbs (pretty sure Wally culled the wrong fish!)
Stan made a decent charge with 4 fish for 7.26lbs and I had a largemouth that made a good showing for Big Bass (briefly) at 3.99lbs.
Next month, we will be fishing our first night tournament of the year on Allatoona, going out of Gatewood Boat ramp from 7PM till 2AM on July 11.
