This Saturday Night is the season opener. I will be at Gatewood around 6PM collecting entry fees ($40 creel, $10 Big Bass and optional $10 side pot). Hours are 7PM till 2AM. 5 fish limit, 12" min, Big Bass must be alive (to win Big Bass honors)
See you there

North, exit 290, go east on GA-20 about 300’ and turn right on SPUR 20 by the Wendy’s fast food restaurant, Go about 2 ˝ miles to Jim Knight Rd on the left. Follow Jim Knight until it dead ends at the Bartow County Beach Rd. (right in front of the COE equipment yard and shop entrance). Turn left and follow the road to the park, bear left in front of the Park Managers residence, then left again at the split in the road. You will see the restrooms and the parking lot. I am almost always parked at the top of the hill adjacent to the non-boater parking area in front of the restrooms. Easy enough to find me because we usually have a crowd of folks gathered around swapping stories and having a good time!

The first Midnight Madness of the 2015 summer is now in the books!!! In spite of some Holiday crowds and slightly difficult parking we managed to have a pretty decent turnout and a good tournament. It was good seeing a lot of the regulars back out there and meeting some new folks too. The weather was nice, it got down to the low 60s or maybe even into the upper 50s by weigh in, but the wind was cooperative. The water temp most places that Stan and fished last night was 76 to 77 degrees and pretty clear to about 3-4' except for the shoreline soup from boat waves.
We had 29 paid entries last night and a total 57 anglers slugging it out. There were 125 fish brought to the scales for a total weight of 168.24 lbs (avg. 1.35 lbs). There were 7 largemouth, including Big Bass of 3.85 lbs. In fact, there were a total of 8 fish that clearly weighed more than 2 lbs, of those; 4 fish were largemouth. I feel pretty confident that more folks had fish, but either left early, didn't want to bring the fish in for whatever reason. Regardless, these are good numbers for this lake!
When the smoke cleared it took at least 8.42 lbs to get in the top six. Here are those results from the bottom up!
Barry and Roger had 6th place with 8.42 lbs. for $58
Stan and Bob (Porko) captured 5th with 8.78 lbs. for $116
Sonny and Clark had 4th place with 8.85 lbs. for $197, They also had Big Bass with a 3.85 lb. fish for $290
Bugg and Alan got 3rd place with 9.57 lbs. for $232
Gary F. and Mobly got the 2nd place money with 9.94 lbs. for $267
And the WINNER of 1st Midnight Madness was Jarrod Welcher with 10.29 lbs. for $290 and side pot of $300!! (Jarrod also won the first Midnight Madness of the 2014 season too!).

The next event will be on June 6, 2015, same place, same time slot. Try to make it out there and join us! Until then please be careful out there!
