As of right now the weather is looking like the best day this year (2015 lol). Hopefully, the lake will settle down and we'll see more fish at the scales! Come on out and join us and see if you can make that happen!
From I-75 North or South, Take Exit 290 (Cartersville/GA20 Exit) Travel East on GA 20 approximately 500 feet and take a right on GA Spur 20 (Between Kangaroo Grocery and Wendy's), travel approximately 3 miles and take a left on Bartow County Beach Road (the Corps signs no longer exist, so look for the small Gatewood Ramp sign)or turn left on Jim Knight Rd. and go till it dead-ends to Bartow County Beach Rd and turn left. Travel to the end of Bartow County Beach Road and the ramp will be on your left

Got word that we are back down to one ramp at Gatewood today. Give yourself plenty of time tomorrow.

The wind blew this afternoon. The skies were high and blue and the water was stained to muddy in most places (some decent water color/clarity in the Iron Hill area) with temps ranging from 44-46 degrees. Just in case you didn't catch my original sentence, THE WIND BLEW, around 20-25 mph all afternoon! Anyway there were 16 paid entries with 30 anglers slugging it out. There were only 21 fish brought to the scales for a total o 45.83lbs (an average of 2.18lbs). Roughly 49% of the field brought fish to the scales, so it was a tough day for sure!

Here's how the money spots paid out:

4th place went to Wally and I with 2 fish for 5.75lbs, we also had Big Bass with a 3.84lb spotted bass, $24 for fourth, and $80 for Big Bass

3rd place went to Larry G with 3 fish for 5.92lbs and $48

2nd place went to Rick and Mike with 3 fish for 6.34lbs and $72

1st place went to Rick D. and Roger with 3 fish for 6.80lbs for $96

The weather forecast for this week is looking pretty nice, hopefully the lake will settle down and start clearing, and hopefully they will slow down on the lake drawdown! We are back down to one ramp again and that sure slows everything down! Anyway, I enjoyed seeing you folks out there today and look forward to seeing everyone next week!

That wind made for tough day, I bet your trolling motor was glad the day was over. Did Wally catch your big spot??

Between the wind on Saturday and the wind on Sunday, my legs were in sad shape! I had some severe cramps in my hamstrings last night! I caught the big spot on a big rapala, in fin-deep water, believe it or not that's the truth! I was fighting the fluorocarbon line tremendously yesterday! Couldn't find the sweet spot for that reel. That big spotted bass was redemption for all the other stuff I went through yesterday!
