Rain is on the way. How much? I don't know but I hope it's enough to keep the ramp open for another weekend! It's right on the mark now. I will stay in touch with the park manager and let you guys know the minute I know something. For now, we plan on fishing! The good thing is that the lake level won't fall very much if it does and we are almost to the time they start letting it slowly fill back up. That's the spring trigger on this lake and puts the fish in a little more predictable mode. Over the next two months we will see some awesome weights come in, so come on out and get ya some of the action.

From I-75 North or South, Take Exit 290 (Cartersville/GA20 Exit) Travel East on GA 20 approximately 500 feet and take a right on GA Spur 20 (Between Kangaroo Grocery and Wendy's), travel approximately 3 miles and take a left on Bartow County Beach Road (the Corps signs no longer exist, so look for the small Gatewood Ramp sign)or turn left on Jim Knight Rd. and go till it dead-ends to Bartow County Beach Rd and turn left. Travel to the end of Bartow County Beach Road and the ramp will be on your left

Hey Bob, did Jim H. have anything to say about the lake level prediction this year? Or does he know about such matters? I know he is a busy man.

Jim is with the DNR, The CoE is altogether different and treats them no different than us, unfortunately.

Mo, I added a link in the open Freshwater discussion for the lake level forecasts for Allatoona and Carters.
I stickied it at the top.

Within a few hours we will be about 1' (make that) 2 1/2' higher than Monday night! with more rain forecasted for Sat and Sun, I don't believe that the ramp will be closing any time soon! up

This is some weird weather, FO SHO! Glass smooth water, warm temps. You wouldn't have thought this was the end of December! The turn out was lower than I thought it would be for a day like today, but I have a feeling the end of gun season may have had a few of our regulars in the woods looking for some venison.
The fishing was tougher than it should have been as there were only 19 fish brought to the scales this evening, for a total weight of 21.89 (an average of 1.15lbs, down from our previous averages this winter).
Anyway, someone always gets the money and here's how it went today:
3rd place went to Wally and I with 3 Float n Fly fish for 3,79lbs, for $45
2nd place went to Jim and Joe C with 3 fish for 4.10lbs and $68
1st went to Alex and Ann with 3 fish for 6.21lbs and Big Bass of 2.89lbs, Their winnings amounted to $112 for 1st and $75 for Big Bass, and $160 for the side pot.
We'll be back out there next Sunday and hope to see ya'll out there with us!
