Well it's Monday and we are lining up on the next event. This Saturday night. I know this is going to be interesting with the crowds this weekend, but I am going to get in touch with Chris, the park manager, and see if we can park in the day use area that night, if the parking lot is too full. I could be wrong, but I think they will work with us. I know there will be at least one fireworks show Saturday night at the Yacht Club Just past the 9E marker. Oh well, I think I may take a break long enough to watch the show! Come on out and join us. It will be just as much fun as any other tournament, maybe a lot more boats and some fireworks! From I-75 North or South, Take Exit 290 (Cartersville/GA20 Exit) Travel East on GA 20 approximately 500 feet and take a right on GA Spur 20 (Between Kangaroo Grocery and Wendy's), travel approximately 3 miles and take a left on Bartow County Beach Road (the Corps signs no longer exist, so look for the small Gatewood Ramp sign)or turn left on Jim Knight Rd. and go till it dead-ends to Bartow County Beach Rd and turn left. Travel to the end of Bartow County Beach Road and the ramp will be on your left

Wow! Boats, Boats, everywhere Boats! Needless to say, I think we will make a concerted effort to avoid the holiday weekends next year! We had 19 boats including mine last night, with 38 anglers braving the crowds. All but five boats weighed fish for a total of 64 fish (11 limits). Those fish weighed 89.31lbs or an average of 1.40lbs per fish. There were only 3 largemouth weighed last night.
We paid 4 places and Big Bass, and we also had a side pot. Here is how the money spots went:
4th place went to Brian and Doyle with 5 fish for 8.27lbs and $72 (my apologies to Steve and Mike whom I mistakenly awarded 4th place before Brian pointed out my error).
3rd place was Scott and Kelly with 5 fish for 8.97lbs and $144
2nd place went to Chad and Randy with 5 fish for 9.08lbs and $216
1st place went to Mike and Jeff with 5 fish for 9.44lbs, that was good for $288 and side pot of $170. They also had Big Bass with a 3.35lb spotted bass for $180.
Congrats to this weeks winners! I hope all of our competitors made it off the lake safely last night! Our next event will be held at Gatewood on July 19, 2014. Hopefully, we will see everyone back out there on what should be a little quieter lake now that this holiday is over.
My granddaughter and grandson, enjoyed the fireworks and endured the fishing! LOL
