Man, what a day
First I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my friends, and family. I couldn't do what I love to do without them in my life.
Overall lake Weiss was fishing pretty tough. Never could get a consistent bite, basically get 1 bite here, then one bite there. Some shallow on docks, Laydowns, then ONE on a ledge.
I ended up drawing another awesome boater for the day and made another great fishing buddy. It was a grind for both of us but we both ended up with a limit. My boater had a limit and I had 2 fish at 2:30pm. We both sat down and wondered where to go next: fish another place up shallow or try ledge on the mainlake.. I made a mental adjustment in my head about halfway through the day to #FishTheCast and fish the moment. When I started doing that, things started turning around for me. We decided to try out the ledge and ended up paying off. At 2:45pm I hooked and landed a 5.59lbs largemouth!! My new biggest largemouth on artificial bait. Man that was awesome
I missed big fish for the Co-angler field by 1 bigger fish than mine which was a 7 pounder.. So close
But the good side is that fish gave me enough weight to still get a check for being in the top 25% of the field
Officially finished 18th out of 79 Co-anglers with 7.67lbs.
Next scheduled tournament will ABA WBS Alabama North Division 2 day championship at Guntersville August 16-17.

Fishing Report: I ended up Pre-fishing Friday and Tournament Saturday. Both days were sunny most of the day then clouds would start showing up in the afternoon. Both days the bite was a real grind for me. I had 7 fish in the boat combined both days. We tried fishing shallow shoreline grass, laydowns, boat docks, Sea-walls, points, and then the one ledge towards the end. We basically did what a lot of anglers called junk fishing. Overall it was a great first time at Lake Weiss. Depending on the kind of fish you locate they can hit a spinnerbait, shaky head, or jig. There was no current at all on Saturday. According to my buddies that know lake Weiss better said the water level is higher than normal and we saw huge full size trees in the middle of the canal in certain areas.
Water Temps was mostly right at 80 but towards the end of Saturday I saw the finder reading 85 degrees.
Coach: Sounded like you had an awesome day on the water. Sorry I beat you by 2 ounces
I guess I needed every ounce of that big fish.
