I wonder what the Commander in Chief will be doing this year!!!! It won't involve paying respects to a fallen Veteran.

Let's not forget that this day is for our fallen brothers and sisters. It is not for us who were lucky enough to make it through these hard times.

So TRUE.
I asked my 14 year old Grand daughter if she knew what Memorial Day means and her response was to cut loose and have fun. I told her I was shocked that she didn't know that hundreds of thousands of war fighters died for our freedom and this the day we celebrate them. Her reply, " yeah but that's on Monday, we still have the rest of the weekend!". I would be terribly upset with that answer but it reflects an entire society's way of thinking. It really is kind of sad though.

You're right Bob. I can't believe that this is not taught in school. I don't mean they should make it a course; but every kid should know what their freedom cost.
My 11 and 14 yr old granddaughters assumed it was a holiday for all who served. I made it a point to explain and now they possibly could pass it to their friends.

USS Kitty Hawk CVA-63 1966-1967
Pentagon/White House Courier 1968-1970

Been watching this site and the Allatoona site for almost 3 yrs and kept me from going stir crazy. Not able to do much fishing due to health; but all is well now and am planning to make up for it in the future. Bought a new BassCat in 2013 and don't have but about 4 or 5 hrs on 150 Optimax Pro X/S motor. Still haven't really opened it up; so the jury is still out on this rig. This thing doesn't jump on the pad till about 48mph. I like the power but I also like to cruise without plowing water.
Thanks and God Bless to you and all who post.
Jerry

So True.....Memorial Day(Originally called Decoration Day)is for our Men & Women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. My entire 8 years in the Marine Corp was during peace time and that peace time came at a heavy price. Veterans Day is for all Veterans. I Love my country and would have been there at a moments notice if we would have had the need during my 8 years but like i said it was peace time and peace time doesn't come cheap. God bless The USA and i will never be ashamed of saying that flag
