Season opener this Saturday night! 7PM till 2AM (Sunday morning!). Entry fee $50 this year, $10 Big Bass and $40 to be paid back 1 plc for every 5 entries (up to 30 entries, 6 plcs no matter how many after that).

I have heard of one person who voiced concern about Sunday being Mother's Day. I hope you can make out here Saturday night, but the nice thing about these tournaments is that you don't have to worry about a championship qualifying or anything like that. You can fish the ones you want to fish and not lose any ground. As far as Mother's Day, the wife will probably want to sleep in anyhow so come on out then sleep in late and take her to brunch! I have a wife and a daughter and a Mother in law to deal with on Sunday and they are all very willing to celebrate Sunday afternoon! lol

For those who have never been up here before, you can use these directions:
From I-75 North or South, Take Exit 290 (Cartersville/GA20 Exit) Travel East on GA 20 approximately 500 feet and take a right on GA Spur 20 (Between Kangaroo Grocery and Wendy's), travel approximately 3 miles and take a left on Bartow County Beach Road (the Corps signs no longer exist, so look for the small Gatewood Ramp sign)or turn left on Jim Knight Rd. and go till it dead-ends to Bartow County Beach Rd and turn left. Travel to the end of Bartow County Beach Road and the ramp will be on your left

cheers

Well we made through Wednesday. Hope this week slows down a bit! Been going like gangbusters, Athens on Tuesday, Rutherfordton, North Carolina and back today. I need to get out of the car for a bit!

I'm planning on being there. Coming from Hiram. Don't get off work until 6. But I'm going to put in at blockhouse or redtop and haul some butt over there. Hopefully make it in enough time.

I keep watching the radar and it keeps looking like it's going to clear up. It's still a few hours away and it still looks like it's going to clear up! Anyway BBriggs will be my fishing partner tonight and I heard that Commanche Kid and Bojangles are teaming up. Mr. Fowler called me and told me he broke his hip so they replaced it and he was going to be out of commission for a while! I told him that I would gladly volunteer to run the Norris Craft for him and keep that 250 Pro XS cleaned out while he was down (he declined of course! lol). Anyway, I've heard that some of the old standbys like FatRat and Terry are going to be there and several more. If nothing else there will be some good stories and joking around before and after the tournament! I hope to see a bunch of ya'll out there this evening! up

With some fog and heavy dew, when it was done we had a very nice night on Toona! The fishing was very good with everyone reporting lots of "specials" being caught, all night long and right up until weigh-in! We had 15 paid entries last night with 30 anglers out there, really good to see a great many returning faces!
When the smoke cleared, every single boat brought a limit to the scales for a total of 80 fish weighing a total 120.44lbs (avg 1.51lbs per fish), 4 of those were Largemouth and Big Bass was a 4.23lb Largemouth (a couple of spotted bass were right up there close to the LMB too!)
Here's how the money places came down:
3rd place went to Rick & Danny (aka "vertically challenged") with 5 fish for 8.67lbs and $120!
2nd place went to the team of Jeff & Tim with 5 fish for 8.88lbs for $180, and they also had Big Bass with a 4.23lb LMB for $150
1st place went to Jarrod with 5 fish for 10.25lbs that earned him $300 for first and a side pot of $140

Just for grins! Brian and I got the "hind nipple award" with 5 fish for 8.55lbs (we tried! lol)
For the inaugural night fishing event of the season I am very pleased, it will only get better from here!
See you guys on May 24th!!

nice! It was a great night for fishing. I met my parents up at Stamp Creek for a mothers day dinner and threw a jig for a few minutes and caught a few from the dock with minimal effort. I figured y'all would have a good night.
