Man the last 2 days was a blast. I got to pre-fish Friday with my buddy Matt West and had a solid day on the water. That was my first time fishing in his boat in a little over a year. I had a great time fishing with you buddy :-) Both of us had decent limits of fish pre-fishing. We caught a couple Largemouths and spots 2 plus pounds. I also caught a 6 pound catfish where a bass should have been.. Man, that was a fun fight for a few seconds. It was a blast fishing a different body of water than Allatoona for a change but ended up not fishing much better than Allatoona because of the tough conditions we faced.

Yesterday: I ended up drawing another great boater Justin Osborne with another awesome 2014 Phoenix Bass Boat. This time it was Phoenix 720 with a Mercury Optimax Pro-XS 250hp the top speed with both of us and all the equipment was 71.5-72MPH going with the current of the lake. The fishing was extremely difficult for us. My boater zeroed and I had 5 fish in the boat. 3 of them were short, a 12 incher, and 13 incher. I weighed 2 fish for 2.04 pounds. Officially finishing 60th out if 84 anglers.

Anyways, it wasn't the the finish I wanted but it was still a successful day because I not only learned a lot more about fishing but made another great fishing buddy and he offered to take me pre-fishing for a day before our next event at Wheeler lake May 17th.

It sounded like Matt and I fished similar yesterday by fishing shoreline grass.. Well that just was not the deal yesterday. It sound like most of the bigger fish or most consistent bite was caught in the main lake on rock. I can back that up because most if our better fish Friday came off rock. We kept our bait selection simple: shaky head with a grandebass worm, and 3/8oz Black&Blue jig with a Chunk Trailer were our top producers.

Neely Henry is a fun fishery and can't wait to make it back there to get some redemption.

Had a pretty good turnout with 84 boats and 84 Co-Anglers. Here is the link to the results: http://www.americanbassanglers.com/BWS/results/770.pdf

Coach: finished 38th out of 84 Co-anglers with 3 fish for 4.94lbs

Matt: finished 45th out of 84 boaters with 7.62lbs

I'll post some pictures later.
Tight lines and I hope everyone has a blessed and safe Easter.

Wally and I went over there yesterday and put in at the city ramp also. There were definitely a lot of hotrods over there! I was shocked at how close they would run to you. Not everyone did that, but there were truly a few really dangerous boat operators in that tournament! Scary for sure, one Skeeter almost put us on the rocks!
Those Phoenix boats sure are pretty! I probably saw you go by a couple of times, we fished south of the launch all the way down to the bluffs, shallow and deep, pockets, creeks, main lake islands, docks, tried it all. Wally and I each ended up with two fish each (Wally's biggest was a 3lb 2 oz LMB, we had no spots at all. Ken Heinrich had a more productive day by staying on main lake laydowns and islands.
What did it take to win the ABA Proam?

Ok cool yeah, my boater and I fished south of the Coosa Landing Ramp the whole day. We went almost to the southern dam. And yes, quite a few crazy drivers. The little we did fish on the main lake rocks there were a few that would ride casting distance away from us.
Winning Co-angler had 13 pounds (3 fish limit) including 6 pounder!!
Winning Boater had 20 pounds (5 fish limit) including a 5 pounder!!

My boater had 13.55 and all spots. We went somewhere down about 25 miles.
He had a new Triton limited edition and his hull number 1.
The first one. There are a 100 to be made and it would fly !!
We were in coves and fished road beds.
My biggest was a spot at 2.5 on a spinner bait.
Jigs were the number for us both.
He gave me a whupping and a lesson on jig fishing.

Here are a couple pictures from the Neely Henry Trip. I can't wait to make it back there. In the right conditions I know that lake can be a fun fishery.
