Hey everybody, It is almost exactly 1 year since I got a full tune up in my motor.
It is a 2006 Mercury Optimax 90hp.
It is running perfectly but thought this would be a good time to do some normal maintenance to keep it performing great.
To save a little money I was planning on doing my yearly maintenance myself but don't know what all I should do. Can anyone tell me the top things I would need to replace?

Here is what I do know:
1.) Change oil in foot of motor
2.) Put fresh spark plugs in.
After that I'm not sure what else I should do.. Maybe a new fuel filter, or decarbon the motor.
I don't know what kind of oil to use for the foot either.

I appreciate your time,
Frank smile

Frank, on the 2 strokes that is pretty much it. Changing your inline fuel filter and checking the micron filter (if you have one) is about all I can think of.

Google the topic...or go to Mercury's web site...I think they have online owner's manuals for the engine. If you can't find the proper lube to use on the Mercury site then send them a Facebook message with the question. In addition to what you've listed there are a few places that need to be lubricated with each service....I just don't remember all of the spots.

Frank You might want to check your water pump.

What I was thinking Chief, impeller replaced, my Mercury book says every 3 years or 300 hours of use.

Thanks guys smile for now my water pump is still running strong. I always keep an eye on it so I don't burn up the engine. I still only have about 120ish hours on the motor. I got my boat about 4 years ago and it had less then 10 hours on it. I mean so low I might of still been in the break in period when I got it.
