went pop Saturday on Allatoona. Just finished the break-in and had the post break-in service performed. Went to Allatoona on Saturday for a 1/2 day of fishing. Was going south back toward Illinois creek when the engine alarm went-off. Stopped to check things out...saw oil coming out from just above the lower unit. Shut it down for the day. Called Tow Boat U.S. and they came and towed me back to Gatewood. Took it to the dealer...initial speculation is that the upper crankshaft gasket went out. If so, it's not a difficult job to fix. I hope this is an anomaly and the motor proves to be reliable... Tow Boat U.S. is cheap insurance at $81yr...and includes over the road towing!

Should know more about the motor Tuesday evening or Wednesday!

I was wondering who that was yesterday. And it looked like it was a Yamaha SHO motor. I don't know if you were looking but I was fishing at the mouth of clear creek as you were being towed back yesterday.
I hope everything turns out ok.

Wow, Tom! Andy's lower unit bit the dust on Westpoint yesterday too, from what Stan told me. I don't think Andy has the SHO though.
on the Boat US Tow service I have seen them out there several times this year, even last night around midnight.

Am getting the boat back on Friday. Was a simple fix as described by the dealer on Saturday. Will have an added bracket installed that should keep the gasket from "blowing-out" again. All models built in 2013 already have it installed...has something to do with all of the pressure that the engine builds-up. up balloons

Ok nice!! I beat you can't wait to get back on the water. Hopefully you can find a parking spot at the ramp. It should be pretty crowded at the ramps depending on which one you are choosing to launch from over the weekend.
