The Big Shanty Bass Club had there annual family picnic this past Saturday at Galts Ferry, Fried fish and a trash boil where on the menu and well as some awesome desserts cooked up by the ladies. While it was a HOT day we managed to stay cool with some box fans.

Later that evening we held our annual Club pot tournament, I fished with my poker buddy Dick "Wells Fargo" Campbell. Dick is a former club member who at age 75 can keep up with us "not that old folk". Dick just lost his wife just a about a week and 1/2 ago so I decided to ask him to fish to just get him out of the house and get some stress off his mind.

We fished from 7pm to 2am and we had a good time. Not a lot of fish caught but we did manage a limit and was able to cull out our smaller fish.

BUT that limit was enough to take 1st and Big Fish with 8.01 lbs and Big Fish of 3.02.

As we where driving home Dick was thanking me for asking him to fish and that he appreciated getting out of the house. He made the comment that this was the first he has fished since he left the club some 15 months ago when he quit to take care of his wife. He just didn't feel good leaving her for a long period of time. I told him that his wife knew that and that's why she blessed us this evening with a nice sack and that she was telling him thank you for taking care of her,,, NOW GO FISH you deserve it.

Great stuff, Danny. I respect that in a person. Sometimes a good friend and a kind heart goes a long ways to mending a loss like that.
